E body ralleye gauge is the only gauge not working. It started acting weird, pulsing up and down low but now, it's all the way down and not moving. The needle doesn't go up at all.
I took the terminal end off the sender and grounded it and the gauge still has no movement.
Where do I look next to get it to work?

seperate the bulkhead & ground that wire in the rear bulkhead half & see if the gauge swings over. www.mymopar.com will have the schematics/colors for you. EDIT no go there? then go further upstream to the round connector on the printed circuit (The dash (likely) needs to come out to access that area) & there might also be an open on the power in feed side of the gauge in the printed circuit. I'd ohm the pins for continuity & be carefull pulling the round connector off of the pins (back it off/out evenly). Holler what you find. MORE EDIT Ohming will tell you if the gauge itself is dead & the more I think about this the more I think that the erratic behaviour symptoms would likely have to be the gauge or the sender, much more likely the gauge (like a tach that acts up the same way) and we confirmed the sender is OK

I've replaced the sending unit twice on my car over the many years. They get clogged up or just go away. It's easy to change, go there first.

But... If I take the wire off the sender with the ignition on and ground it, shouldn't the needle peg full?

There is no circuit board on the E body gauge cluster FYI.

The wire from the sending unit goes from the bulkhead connector straight up to the back of the oil gauge. This wire has a 90 degree push on connector at the oil gauge.
Maybe it came off?

Since grounding the sender wire didn't peg the gauge upscale then we know the sender is not the problem. You could inspect the bulk head connector for a bad connection as Robert said. Maybe ground the oil gauge wire there if you can identify it but that isn't easy in that mess of wires.

Another option, reach up under the dash and feel for the 90 degree connectors (plural) on the back of the oil gauge. Make sure they are pushed on tight. One is from the bulkhead and the other is from the voltage limiter which supplies the 5v power to the gauge.

If all the above is OK I'd pull the 90 degree connector off at the back of oil gauge(the one from the bulkhead) and ground the oil gauge stud momentarily to see if it pegs upscale.

Thankyou, going to go do this now and see, I tried to look up under the dash but it is tight under there and hard to see the back of the gauge. Also going to check the bulkhead connector too.

The fact that your fuel and temperature gauges work indicate your voltage limiter on the back of the cluster is operable.

So, providing that 5 volts from the limiter is getting to the one side of the oil gauge then grounding the other side of the oil gauge should peg the gauge upscale.

I assume you know to only momentarily ground the oil gauge to see it briefly shoots upscale, otherwise gauge damage could result.
