Stock stroke.....That's going back a ways....Stock block, stock heads, stock rockers.... 426 +.06 for 431 cubes, compression was around 10.5 or 10.0......KB Hyper pistons, stock heads, no porting, intake was an old cross ram style I had modded with a 1" spacer for the plenum and then 1" spacers under each carb, runners all shortened and radius'd, and I modded the two 750 eddy carbs. Cam was an old roller around .630 lift...Car with 4.10 gears at 3300 went 11.60 at 119mph in street trim with mufflers....Back in '96 or there abouts...

Why stick with a stock stroke? I would go 4.5, by the time you pay to get a crank ground and new pistons, you are money ahead getting a stroker crank. 4.5 stroke 248@.050 .628 lift crane roller StageV intake, heads, 2.3/1.9 valves, rockers Quick fuel 770 vacuum carbs with annular booster Milodon road race pan with external pickup still cant afford to finish the car though Tim

Good news is that I don't have rockers, so I'd be forced to buy good ones. I am aware the rocker issue is a big one with these motors. I've got OE heads with my pile o parts. Ho hum OE 66-71 heads, fresh VJ and stainless valves and a set of bare 64 K heads. But I'm aware of the gains to be had with new aluminum heads. As for your wedge comment, I've always been a Wedge fan until my last few small block success. That said, I'm just weighing options at this point.
