What stock stroke 426 Hemi’s are out there, street and strip?? I have had some Hemi stuff fall into my lap and I’m contemplating what to do with it. Thus, some questions about what others are doing.

1) Compression?

2) Cam?

3) Heads? Stock OE? Ported? MP or Eddy aluminum?

4) Oiling?

5) Rockers? OE?? Or…is there a such thing as a “reasonably” priced
aftermarket rocker assembly??

6) Intake/Carb(s)

7) Car/converter/gear combo???

8) ET/MPH?

I know it’s a lot, but come on guys…brag about your stock stroke Hemis!

Thanks!

Stock stroke.....That's going back a ways....Stock block, stock heads, stock rockers....

426 +.06 for 431 cubes, compression was around 10.5 or 10.0......KB Hyper pistons, stock heads, no porting, intake was an old cross ram style I had modded with a 1" spacer for the plenum and then 1" spacers under each carb, runners all shortened and radius'd, and I modded the two 750 eddy carbs. Cam was an old roller around .630 lift...Car with 4.10 gears at 3300 went 11.60 at 119mph in street trim with mufflers....Back in '96 or there abouts...

Why stick with a stock stroke? I would go 4.5, by the time you pay to get a crank ground and new pistons, you are money ahead getting a stroker crank.
4.5 stroke
248@.050 .628 lift crane roller
StageV intake, heads, 2.3/1.9 valves, rockers
Quick fuel 770 vacuum carbs with annular booster
Milodon road race pan with external pickup
still cant afford to finish the car though

I would agree with big inches, but my hemi goodie package includes 2 sets new in the box Pistons, nice hemi rods (all of the old school tricks: peened, polished, resized, ARP bolts, new bushings) and a fresh crank...along with a freshly machined block, all ready to wash and assemble.

On your street and strip deal with no heads buying new aluminum ones are a no brainer up twocentsThat way you can pump the compression up over 11.0 to1 safely oon 91 octane pump swill up On the rockers if you have cheap access to several sets of stock or one set of good blueprinted stock rockers then use them after checking the ratio at the retainers on all 16 rockers scope thumbs I went through 2 1/2 sets of stock rockers back in the day for my NHRA stocker, those stock rockers are pure junk as far as the ratio checked out to be confused They varied more than .110 lift at the retainers on both the intake and exhaust rocker arms on the same lobes with the same pushrods and checking springs on all of them shock down puke runaway
Hemiroid motors vcan bew challenging to get them in blueprint conditions so all eight cylinders have the exact same compression ratio, make sure and check the CC all eight combustion chambers before assembling the motor, I've seen 4.0 CC variations on one head shock shruggyGood luck, have fun thumbs
BTW,I've made more HP and torque per C.I. on stroker wedge motors than I have on Gen 2 hemiroid motors of the asme size and carb. CFM confused whistling No kidding shruggy

Good news is that I don't have rockers, so I'd be forced to buy good ones. I am aware the rocker issue is a big one with these motors.

I've got OE heads with my pile o parts. Ho hum OE 66-71 heads, fresh VJ and stainless valves and a set of bare 64 K heads. But I'm aware of the gains to be had with new aluminum heads.

As for your wedge comment, I've always been a Wedge fan until my last few small block success. That said, I'm just weighing options at this point.
