I have no experience with 8 E-85 but thinking about build for street car with a 383. What is safe comp ratio. shruggy Old school build probably will use Mopar .590 cam, ported 906 heads. I've got a set of Arias .060 domed pistons, but currently have done no math to figure comp ratio. Your thoughts are appreciated

when I was using E-85 in my drag car, I had 13.0-1 comp and had 32* total and had no problems with it.

With E-85 you have basically 105 octane so base
the compression on that... shoot for a cranking
pressure about 195 but this is also based on full
E-85 summer fuel.... if you let it sit for weeks
you should drain the system otherwise it will obsorb
moisture and that corrodes... also check the fuel you
will be buying(you can get a cheap tester).. some stations
tend to have a good mix and others dont... if you buy it
and put it in drums for later use make sure its in sealed
drums

We run E85 240psi cranking pressure and have zero problems. My suggestion is to get a carb built from someone who deals strictly in E85 carbs. Someone like mark sullans.

AJ Casini at Bob George Racing can convert any Holley carb to E85. Not sure about other makes.

Thanks to all for replying, trying to use up some parts I've got laying around. Not my intention for it to be a race car just a good solid pro street kinda deal that I can afford to drive. drive

I run a Quikfuel 950 E85 carb on my 496 with Eddy heads and a mild cam. Comp is 13.5. It runs 6.5 1/8 mile times all day. 850 runs on it and still going strong.

I have the pretty much exact build, .030 over arias dome pistons, .590 Mopar cam, 516 heads bowl blended, 2" headers, street dominator intake and an 850 Holley. It's about 11.5:2 and I am going e85 as well. I talked to Eric at horsepower innovations and he is going to build my 750 mighty demon when it gets to that point.

I just got it fired up and broken in today, here it is

With E85 around $1.60, and supporting high compression performance it makes sense. If local stations are carrying it near you, go for it!

I just converted my 12.4:1 compression 500" stroker to E-85. Running a fairly large cam in that engine, but I would think 11.5:1 would be OK.

I bought a QF1050 (4150 flange) carb and I need to do more tuning on it as it is fairly rich out of the box.
