I started and broke mine in on Brad Penn straight 30W because it is one of the highest with Zinc content. Then after that been using Brad Penn 20W-50. Ron I second that Brad Penn is in my 505. Great stuff

On all the street and strip stroker motors I build with either a solid roller lifter or hydraulic roller lifter I use Valvoline 5W 20WT non synthetic oil There are better and worst oils out there, that Valvoline oil has worked well for me for a lot of years so far with no additives On non roller lifter motors I use Comp Cams zinc oil additive on every oil change Lucas and Red Line sell a zinc additive also as well as a lot of other brands out there that work well so use the one you like the most

My friend had a blueprint engine from Summit. Brke it in with high zinc, then switched to synthetic. Ruined the cam in a couple thousand miles. Keep zinc in the oil....

Ask the engine builder that put it together. He knows what clearances it has, and most likely has a preferred weight and brand.

I don't have the race experience of some other guys on this board, however I am an Amsoil fan. They make an oil called Z-Rod which as you may guess by the name, is aimed at flat tappet engines. An oil analysis I read at one point showed it had very high levels of zinc in(higher than VR1 and Joe Gibbs), it as well as some other additive that helps prevent corrosion during long term storage. That's some good stuff. I'm thinking of switching in the GTS.
