To get the proper lifter clearance on bronze bushings , do you hone or ream them to size. On a aluminum block I read it should be .0015 to.002 , is that correct? I'm using Jesel tool steel tie bar roller lifters if that makes a difference.

Call Jesel and ask them, I would want to know the exact aluminum alloy of the block first so I could let them know. Different aluminum alloys like used in pistons, and if heat treated, expand differently than other aluminum alloys

I changed a set of bushing in one of my engines.. after pushing them in.. I used a reamer to set my spec.. but I have no clue for your alum block for what your spec would be

Good Idea on contacting Jesel, as the lifters are a combination of steel and aluminum, that might make a difference also.

Sent a E-Mail to Jesel tech to clear up what is stated in their tech section on lifter bore tolerances. Looks like .002 we'll see what they come back with.

Getting off the roller lifter subject , we all have heard of the to tight of lifter bores not letting the lifter rotate in our stock blocks causing the wiping out our solid flat tappet lifters. What should the clearance be for a standard lifter in a iron block?

All the stock used Mopar V8 I've check are .0020+ Mopar, Direct Connection, use to sell oversized solid lifters for tightening up the clearances on stock blocks Some of the stock production 318,340 and 360 motors where machined with some of the lifter bores not 90 degrees front to rear to the cam tunnel I'm assuming that those lifters couldn't, wouldn't or didn't rotate or spin proeperly

"Got a E-Mail back from Jesel. Jesel stated lifter clearance on aluminum block with bushed lifter bores should be .002 - .0025 and if you have a aluminum block without bushings .001 - .0015 also , the un-bushed block should be preheated before starting. That .0025 seems a little much . I'll see if I can keep it closer to .002"
Mine are .0025 Jesel Keyway and custom Jesel bushing with an aluminum block
