Is 800 bucks a good price for fully ported 452 heads? How much Horse power can you typically gain from fully ported heads? Engine is a 440.

Is that to do them or buy them completed?? sounds reasonable 30 to 50 hp depending on a lot of other factors.

That is to do them, assuming there are no cracks and they are still good enough to be done.

you aren't getting much for 800 bucks unless the head porter only charges 5 bucks an hour .

in my area that 800 is for a basic rebuild with all new parts on bare castings

I would'nt touch them with a 10 ft pole without having them checked out by a trusted machinist and have one cylinder flowed so you know what you have.

800 bucks goes a long way towards a purchase of edelbrock rpm heads or 440source heads.

I had a set of ported 452 heads from
Line Performance (Jason Line, before the Prostock
days)13-14 years back. Not to much to pick from
back then. Eddie RPM's were a new thing, and 440-1
heads from Indy were just to much money.

I think I had about $1500 or so into the 452's.
Eddie RPM's fully ported will out flow fully
ported 452's.
452's fully ported should push 600 HP in a 440.
$800 is a good deal if they are in good shape
and flow what you need. Have them flow tested.

What is the combo your building?

Snap your neck, mega G-force launch, is all I want!

Are you certain his work will yield good results? A member here who is a professional posted some pics of some home ported heads. The ports looked fantastic but the flow bench revealed an insignificant improvement over as cast. Any reason you are not considering a new set of stealth heads?

Keep old mopars alive.
