I am having a bit of an issue...I have an 86 w250 truck with 360. It no longer has the spark controller, it has the msd ignition, etc.etc. My problem is I have no start, no crank. I test the with a test light the wire coming from the solenoid and it does not light when in the "start" position. I test the feeds and they are good. I changed the solenoid.same thing. I test continuity of the wire from the solenoid to the starter...it's good no breaks or shorts. I replaced the starter no good. I tried to jumper the neutral switch...no good(may have done it wrong). I put a starter button on the feed wire from the solenoid by cutting the wire and the leg going to the starter I wired to one side of the button, the other remaining leg I left alone. I wired from the other side of the button to the battery. I put the key in the "run" position, hit the button.....same thing..nothing..don't click, NOTHING........................................................Please help..........

So you have 12v at the solenoid all you have to do is cross the main wire (2 gauge)coming up from the starter to the small wire 98 gauge)to the starter.
That should get it spining and go from there.

Make sure the Neutral safety switch is hooked up and working. it just grounds. You can find it on the solenoid "N".

I jumped across the terminals at the starter and nothing happens. I just ordered a new OE positive cable that has all of the ends already on it. I will switch that out, other than tat I am lost.

Wouldn't the starter button I put in bypass all of the stuff like the neutral switch, since the button is wired straight from the battery to the starter?

This is one of those deals that is soo simple that it is kickin my a**!!!!!

Test starter with jumper cables from positive on battery to big lug on fender mouted starter relay, and negative from battery to good ground on engine. Then jumber the big lug to the little lug on the relay to test the circuit etc. If it clicks and spins, your starter solinoid, starter, cable from relay to starter are good. Then look at wiring, relay etc by back tracking from there.

Mine doesn't have lug style. It's the 6 ;pin solenoid that is all in cased like a relay. I will try from the battery down to the starter with jumper cables that should tell me whether the cable is ok or not. This is sooo frustrating.

you should be able to jump 12v dc to the small terminal on the starter and the starter shoul turn. or pull the starter out put it in a vice and use a jumper box. ground the starter with the neg. lead from your jump box, put the pos. lead to the b+ side of the starter and use a jump switch to go from b+ to the small terminal on the starter. if the starter "starts" with it hooked up like this then you know that you have a wiring isue. weather its in the park neutral safety swith or your ignition switch will have to be determined from there.

nitrous is like a really hot chick with an std you want to hit it but youre affraid of the outcome.
