Somebody's got to say it - those diamond plate inner fenders look pretty bad.

Chasing bears through the woods drunk with a dull hatchet is strongly not advised

Thanks guys, I wasn't planning on covering it up and adding more weight back in. I was more looking for a structural pic of how you tied the original frame rail to the top of the shock mount. Maybe a couple different ways? BTW I just got it recerted yesterday (25.3) inspector seemed to think I would lose a lot off strength removing them. Has anyone ever heard of someone having a problem after removing them?

Thank you. E body inner wheel wells are quite a bit different, I really like how you tied in the top

We are adding a new bar from the top of shock mount to bottom of windshield hoop. There was to much flex in its current state.

You have to think triangulation for max support..
look at how I did the front tubes on mine... your
front bar where it makes the 90* turn should start
its bend over top of the shock and angle down to
the front... unsupported bends are weak and have flex
EDIT
If you look at any of the shapes that the bars create
they all have a triangle shape

Yes, it will make a big triangle. Those bars where installed when it had inner fenderwells so it had to clear them. I have now cut out inners and are adding the extra bars.

Nice, how heavy were the inner fenders 10-15 lbs?

I cut them out with a plasma cutter so they came out in many pieces and never weighted them. Sorry, but mine still had factory under coating so I will say 15-20lbs.

67Dartgt that pic you posted of the car with no inner fenders is not your car is it?
Also I can't seem to visualize the bar that you planning to add that goes to the top of the shock mount to the windshield bar or, or we talking bout the dash bar? confused Post some pics on this when you complete it......... wave

^^^Got it^^^
Is your plans is to leave the inners open or you planning to run some aluminum for your inners? I'm in the process of adding front snout bars to my e-body, and was planning to run a upper shock support mount like this. thumbs

I cut out the inner dash structure, it as worth 10 lbs, probably 5 more out of the brackets. My guys say I need to support the rail of the fiberglass fenders. Do most people run a aluminum support or is it really not worth the bother?

Yes I am going to leave it open. We have changed our mind and are adding a bar from shock mount to frame rail where mid plate ties in. Instead of run it to the base of main hoop. I do not have a dash bar as I have a stock firewall.

I'm taking the advise and not looking back. Still Pluging away. I will tie the mid plate to the upper and lower frame rails and back to the dash bar. Like the lower frame rails? I'm thinking ZOOMIES!!!!!

I would rethink welding that loop around the fuel cell. You will have to pick the motor up awful high to get over that when you pull it out. One of the main purposes of a removable front is to make it easy to work on. That bar complicates things for no reason, as it provides nothing structural
