69 Imperial Specs and infos #1979682

I bought a pretty worn out 69 4-door imperial.
I want to collect some infos.

Infos like "real" power output, rim and wheel size, pretty much everything important/remarkable.
and infos about what could or should be improved or watched over.

I have to replace pretty much everything connected to brakes, steering, drivetrain and suspension, but maybe there's something that I should replace with better/other parts or even if it's not worn out.

I hope you guys get what I mean. My english is improving (I hope).

Hi, congratulations on the Imperial purchase! Now for the not so good news......just about everything you mentioned above except for the engine and transmission is unique to the Imperials. There are some parts that will work from 1967-1973 models and there are other parts that seemed to change with each model year, brakes being one such item.

Wheels, 15x7 (maybe x6) with a 5x5 bolt pattern. Not an uncommon bolt pattern by auto standards, GM used it on mid-and full size cars, but it is an odd one for Chrysler products. Could be changed to 5x4.5 if axles and brakes were swapped out with regular Chrysler Newport/New Yorker parts of similar vintage. You need to check and see what is on the car before you get to far into this adventure.

Bad news is that 1967-1970 brake rotors are nearly impossible to find. The good news is that it is (should be) a rotor bolted onto a hub so you might be able to upgrade the brakes with a different rotor and have a new caliper adapter made for better caliper choices. There is a Toyoda Supra rotor that is very near factory dimensions but does require the center register to be machined larger. Just about all the suspension bushings are Imperial only and can be difficult to find. Some of them cross reference over to other vehicles but you need to know what they are to find what you want.

Oh, power from the engine, 350HP I believe was advertised.

I'll try and help you with what info I have.

I agree with Bob I had like 5 or 6 Imps.They pretty much had everything different than a normal Chrysler.The trans and engine are the same same with the rears.The 62 we had had small leaf types on the top for roll IIRC.GM rotors will fit the front as my 70 had one on from a junkyard when I bought it.Have fun trying to find an Idler if its needed.A guy bought my 70 pretty much for just the idler.For 550 he thought it was cheap as he got some other spare parts for his.Same with the front turn lens Most are broken especially on 70s.I still have some from my 69 and 70.Oh yeah have fun if the sequential turn signals dont work.I pulled pretty much all the stuff in the rear from my 69.I think it was the only year they used them.

Go to rareparts.com to find out about the idler arm. I had to replace the one on my 72 Imperial.

Bob got it right. Good info there.

Thank you guys for your informations and links. I think they will help me a lot.
I didn't know that Imperial parts are that rare. I found some pictures of fuselage Imps used as destruction derby cars. Quite a shame.

And sorry for my late reply. I wasn't able to answer over the holidays.
