over the festive season i've been assembling my stroker engine for my 'cuda. as i was prepping the cam for install i found 2 nicks on the lobes. 1x is minor but i found it & know its there, the 2nd is right on the peak of a lobe on a mech roller cam. that one is an issue i can't let pass. Problem is, everyone is closed over this period, might be quicker just to buy a replacement & get this one looked at later. i'm down under so there's no local supplier, it's import as reqd, i can order now from Summit & have it delivered in 10-14 days or wait til local boys come back & join the queue they already have. that could be February & it's race season now down here.
If you were shopping off the Summit website. what cam you you pick for my set up? i'm on a budget as well all are, $ conversion is bad @ 0.69c in the USD. i'm only wanting to run high 10's on a mediocre track prep.
We have...
'71 'cuda, full factory trim but has subframe connectors 3680 lbs.
512 10.8:1 pumpgas engine. our Premium pumpgas is 98 octane
Stage 6 MW heads flowed to 350@650
950cfm Quickfuel carb on Super Victor intake
5200rpm stall 8" converter
4.3 rears 325x60 MT ET Radials
the car is just a strip toy, very limited street driving.
i was looking at cams in the mid 270@50 range, what do you guys think?

Post your cam specs. Maybe someone on Moparts has one they can sell you for the right price.

the cam i was going to use, used to be Indys R1 cam but we were experiancing harmonics & once we had the cam checked the cam was found to be at fault. i had it reground slightly & it's been great ever since, ever since i found the lobe was damaged. the old cam is 272/279@050, 650 lift. i was kinda thinking i'd like to be 1 step tamer than this on my current build

i thought about this one, as its very similar to my current damaged unit. my current thought is this one as it's lift isn't quite so much making my springs live a little longer.

I have used a stone and polished off small in perfections.

i think my problem is a bit more than a stone rub. i had a rod bolt break & the windage tray trapped it in the crank area. the bolt looks like it ricocheted off the cam lobe while it toured the reciprocating zone.

The 707 is a much newer lobe design. It has more lift, is more stable and is easier on the springs.
Are you using 1.5 rockers?

The RX lobes are very stable and work well with higher rocker ratios. You would just need to make sure the springs you have would accommodate the lift and provide enough pressure to keep control of the valvetrain to the upper rpm limit you plan to run the motor, and that whatever you have for rockers are durable enough to be used with that amount of spring pressure.

valve springs are 943 Сomps, just been tested & they're fine, so not really looking to buy more. the rockers are MP alloy 1.6's, not the best but they're ok for the performance level i'm wanting to extract from them. The cam i had was probably a bit overkill for the job but it's a spare that i had & it matched the converter. when i have this combo sorted, i have a young lady who's going to race the car at our night drag series we run over summer. i aim is to slow the car enough that we can run 11 zeros on any track.
Still wanting opinions of which cam you members would recommend, have to make a call by this coming Tuesday if i want to be running to run the new years race dates.

If you're hoping to be able to buy something that someone actually has on the shelf and not wait for a custom grind, I think you're options are going to be rather limited.
That 758 cam should work okay with your springs and rockers.
