Good Morning and Merry Christmas.

Although this is not a performance
or collectible Mopar, it is my daily driver.

I have a 87' Aries (85K) that is in need of an EGR valve. I have several part numbers: 4287811 / 4287812 / 4636130 / 4287801.

These numbers have been superseded, the problem is I cannot find what the new number is. The local Dodge dealer is of little help.

Thanks to all who respond.

Omni

Can you not just bypass it? I disconnected more of them than I can remember.

that's what I was thinking too, if it dont ping from the now undiluted with ex gas mixture then you're fine unless it needs to be hooked up for emissions inspection in your area. You'll gain power and mileage

Some you could plug in the day.Others would ping like crazy.IIRC aftermarket EGR isnt that pricey. Some of the early ones like GMs for sure you could take apart and clean if carboned up.Rocky

First is if you have to have the car emission tested they check the Nox which most likely will fail without the EGR working. Second is many will ping with the EGR unhooked as some call the EGR the poor mans octane booster because it lowers combustion chamber temps when working since the inert gas wont ignite and I can tell you some cars would ping bad with the EGR not working. I cant remember if that year has the transducer on it that has exh flow back pressure on it to control when the valve opens as if it does many times the aftermarket valve dont work to good. It can come in to soon and cause a stumble on light throttle or come in way to late. Hopefully a Mopar parts person will chime in and give you the right part number valve thats calibrated correct. Thanks as I did not know that. In Md about the only ones that dont get it are Historic or HotRod tagged cars. Ron

EGR actually can help mileage at cruise because it diminishes pumping losses through the carb throttle plates. The egr comes into the manifold after the carb.
EGR does nothing at full throttle as there is no vacuum to open the valve.

And yes, I have unhooked a number of EGR valves myself, back before I started reading up on things.
