Anyone recognize this car? It's somewhere on the central East Coast. It can be bought, but is pretty far gone. No VIN. Probably doesn't have a title, but I didn't ask. I would imagine that it would be worth putting back together if it has some history. Otherwise, it's only worth it for the Dana, IMO. It's not at an unheard of place, so I would be a bit surprised if it was an old Dick Landy car or something like that.

Thanks,

Scott

He didn't have a price; said he will have to check. I don't think it will be a steal; he'll want at least the value of the Dana.

Thanks,

Scott

That might be my old race car,the paint job matches other then it had a white vinyl top.
Do the stripes go across the back of the
trunk and it would be a 1971?
It diffently looks different as the
hood has been chopped upped and it looks
like they took out some of the inner fender
wells forward out. Let me know and I can give
you more info I raced in California.
Sold the car due to a divorce and it went
to Mi.

Not sure on the stripes. Car is in Atlantic coast area now. Will let you know if I find out anything else.

Thanks,

Scott

Have you checked the top of the cowl for a partial VIN number?

This might not be the same car but
the way the two stripes are were unique.
I have not seen the car since 1988 a long
time ago so alot of things could have
changed. A couple of other things to look
for the roll bar has a swing out bar and
all the regulators for the windows were
removed and the windows were locked in the
up postion. I had a clutch pedal set up as
when I ran back then with a clutchflight trans.
I did not have that type of hood scoop or the third white strip down the middle.

Looks like it was turned into a race car in the 80's. I'd probably just fix the mechanicals, drop in a drivetrain and start racing it again.

Place is several hours away from me, so not sure if/when I'll be back. If I do go back, I'll be sure and check. If I hear of anyone else heading there, I'll ask them to check as well.

Thanks,

Scott

I kind of figured it was done in the 70s or early 80s based on the wheels, cage, interior, and sawzall to the wheelwells bodywork. Of course, I'm only 40, so I'm no expert on 1970s race car construction.

Challenger is sold, and not for a lot of coin, either. Here's what a buddy said about it -

The challenger was raced locally by a guy. he ran it most of its life. X got it and ran it some. sold motor and let it sit. a guy in TX wanted it and had a B1 motor for it but never did anything with it. X got it back and its been there for 20 years. it would make a good race car but it all old stuff and to run hard it needs redone.
