Today I called Trend, Manton and Smith Bros. Trends push rods come in .025" increments, not really what I'm looking for. I'd like to stay away from 3/8" as my Indy 360-1 are going to require some massaging to clear them. Not really a problem on the exhaust but the intake side may get thin.

Smith bros. recommend a .116" wall 5/16". Manton recommended a series 5 .120" wall 11/32". The Mantons are about $45 more than the Smith Bros and I don't mind paying the extra if it's worth it or needed.

PAC 1396 springs, 260# on the seat, 658# @ .740" lift.

Thanks.

There is no way I would use anything smaller than 3/8 with that. No way. And they SHOULD be 3/8-7/16 double taper. Didn't anyone say that?

I don't care for the 5/16 .120 walls I have with 145 on the seat.

EDIT
On second thought, you MAY get by with a 5/16-3/8 single taper. But that would be a .120 wall min.

Just because you think it won't make it true. Horsepower is KING. To dispute this is stupid. C. Alston

I have the 360-1 as well. It would take a ton of massaging to fit a 3/8 pushrod in there. I massaged for more pushrod clearance several times and a 5/16 is all that will fit. I used .116 last build but broke one from rubbing. .120 mantons are on my list.

7.8" 5/16 .120 wall Smith Brothers on my old engine.

250# on the seat
600# open @.640 lift

7000 RPM, T&D rockers. 600 runs in 3 seasons with no issues.

Bigger is better and stiffer, but if you can't fit it, I wouldn't be scared of the smaller pushrod.

I have some Manton 4 Series 11/32 x .120 wall 7.605/7.640 length push rods that I had on another motor with 360-2 heads that have about 15 passes on them. The engine broke a rod. If they will work I will sell them cheap.

I run 3/8s x.120 smith bro's, in my uncles engine that's in my car, only brand we have ever ran, no issues. 360-1s, had to grind.... I might have got a 7/16s in there, which we wanted, was way thin already tho. 1.8 jesels, .800 plus lift cam, 330 and 810 pressures, if I remember correctly without looking at pressures.

Ball, Ball? The exhaust are a right but the intakes are a little long. I've only measured one side will try to get the other side measured tomorrow.

I use Manton pushrods in my 440/493 and they have worked great and their service was great. Ron

I have used Trend, Smith Bro, and a local copany
to me.. they make what I want in straight PRs..
its called OEM.. I never had any bend or break..
but Smith Bro were way pricer than Trend and way
more than OEM... OEM makes Comp Cams PRs
EDIT
its a small place but the guy took me in back to
show me around and I was watching the one machine
putting the Comp Cams name and length on them going
into boxes.. pretty simple process on PRs but they
do nice stuff

"Not enough pushrod" doesn't always produce results that are easy to see and diagnose.
A limber pushrod acts like pole doing a pole-vault - it bends when the load vs. speed is too great, then snaps back to full length and overloads the spring. SpinTron is excellent in diagnosing this, but it's cheaper to just use the biggest diameter you can fit.
Sometimes, it isn't float or breakage - it's a soft spot in the RPM range you use that goes away when the pushrod is stiffer (not stronger).
