I'd like to quiet my Cuda down some. Will I notice much of a difference in loudness if I change my mufflers? There are no tailpipes, I just have turndowns in front of the axle. I will not put tailpipes on because it is an AAR Cuda and it wouldn't look right with tailpipes. The current mufflers are Flowmaster 45031 3".

Yes it will be better/quieter.. those muffs arent that good... assuming this is a street car.. try something like the old chambered muffs.. the bigger the body on it the quieter it will be

I went from a 2 chamber flow master to a Ultraflow a few years ago. I do have tailpipes, but it made the car a lot quieter and it picked up 1mph right off.
I ported the heads not to long before the muffler change but I believe they also resolved a reversion issue. When I tore my motor down to have the heads ported the intake manifold was black like an exhaust manifold. I ported the heads and shortly after swapped the mufflers and its been together twice and long and the intake is still clean.

If you put ta/aar style side dumps on it your in-car noise should go down. Anything that dumps right under the car tends to transfer more noise inside, at least judging from vehicles I've had. If he has turn down.. turn then 90* so it blows the sound out sideways and doesnt kick the sound down off the pavement and back up off the floorpan that tends to really make noise

I have a 500" Duster I drive on the street alot, it was loud with cheap turbo mufflers, I installed Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers and it helped quiet it down alot, then I added an H-pipe and that really helped. I do not have tailpipes. I do have electric cutouts for when I feel like being loud.
