Is there any way to tell by looking at a 318 crank if it's cast or forged. Because a 340 and 318 have the same crank correct. Thanks

The 273 and the 318 steel are the same crank. They get the right balance by using a real heavy piston pin in the 273.
What is different on the 273 that it needs the heavy piston pin to balance out?
uh, the pistons are much smaller in diameter, so they're lighter....
btw, somewhere in the early to mid 70's, they started using they commonized rods and started using the 340/360 rods in 318's, so an 80's 318 will have heavier rods than a 273/late 60's 318
