06 Dodge 2500 hemi with new starter and battery yesterday I hit the key and nothing wha, put it in and out of gear and still nothing , so like the old days I left it in park key on went underneath and with screw driver crossed the two large terminals on starter , sparks all over (surprised me) no crank bum, got back in the truck hit starter and she fired up then worked all day no issues, question is can we jump the starter like the old days? why did I get sparks and no cranking? lastly after the sparks all was fine whats up with that?

Was the old starter acting the same way? this starter might just be bad. I'd take it out & jump it on your bench (clamp the 2 starter terminals together then make your final connection with your jumper cables at the battery as to not mess up the starter terminal threads from the sparks). Even tho it is OK now as you know it (likely) will repeat soon usually at the most inopportune time!
