Dad does his own heads.

I thought your Pops did Bob Mazzolinis engine but had Bob try the Modern heads. I could be wrong though.

Mazz's motor has Jeff's heads on it. Our Mandella-built cars don't.

harry told me he would love to try a set of my heads/manifold,, if i gave it to him ,, david,, you kinda know what i mean,, ive been down on a few motor deals ive been working on,, i think guys will be close to .40's in spring,, by mid year you guys could be there,, and so could i,, you may find something big over the winter,, we think we did, but time will tell.. mazzolini wanted to use my heads on his engine and have harry build it,,, since mazz has rebuilt it.. this is an extremely competitive group of guys,, some get arrogant,, and some get pissed off at others for elevating the performance level. id honestly have to say harry is one of the better gentelman,, along with a few racers.. everyone going to watch a race needs to go over and talk to him for atleast an hour each,, that way he will be diverted and wont beable to work on the car... ,, giving us a better chance to compete.. no,, seriously there are a few guys stepping up to run at a high level. it may get like pro stock soon,, we will see

I was around when the 68 cars came out (older than dirt) - but someone explain to me, why spend all that money - probably at least $300k, to race for what $5,000. ? Look at the cars and transporters - does this make sense ?

Whoa! These fellas aren't the least bit interested in adding to their fortune!!

This about making a SMALLER fortune.

And really BIG ego's!

I notice you race is this why you do.???

Yep I think its great to see the baddest sportsman SS door slammer cars ever to get this attention. This is what I want to see. This and any nostalgic door slammer racing is what I grew up with and love. I also saw these cars when they cam out in 68 (I was 12) and I was already into Mopars and drag racing. I dont care for the Super class of delay boxes and throttle stops but I dont mind watching bracket racing of cars I can identify what they are. I also enjoy the FAST and Pure Stock cars. I hate to see NHRA giving the sportsman guys and girls the bum rap as thats what I like so its good to see so much competition going on in the SS/AH class and I look forward to watching them race this year. I know many are going after the record and bragging rights but that makes for strong competition. Ron

Past tense - "raced" - I learned that sportsman racing can make a big pile of money into a little pile, real fast.

Stop it please. You're depressing me. This class is as real as it's going to get. Where else can you go and see this many cars race and have any tech officials that mean anything? If anything this class is gonna have more rules tacked on before you know it. It's so competitive that everybody is pushing every rule there is in the book. The question is, how much will NHRA let the racers get away with before they finally do something? For example, hood scoops. Just give us a damn measurement already. DAVE BARTON THANK YOU FOR YOUR POST.

And by the way, bracket racing IS actually fun when you are going rounds with a reliable consistant car.

Of course! My little fortune stays little quite nicely. I stay where my funds allow.

Regarding this thread...@ 5-6 years ago I sold a
CLEAN 68 formula 'S' bare body to 2 brothers(white) in NE Arkansas who intended to make a "A" car out of it. Met one last fall at the Memphis national and he said they were coming along nicely on the project. They have been running a white bracket super bee for quite awhile.

Anyone know who they are??

These guys spend big bucks for little purses for the same reason that I have over 40Gs over 23 years in a 10 second bracket Dart racing for a couple hundred bucks every weekend/ because we can , we`re having fun , and most of all we`re racing Mopars

Hey Julie I am just curious, can someone buy a complete motor from your dad with his heads on it. By the way your dad is a really nice guy, I met him briefly in Mazz's pits.

Jesse

Dad is just doing stuff for our team and helping out some of the other hemi guys on the west coast with special projects and consulting. He does all his heads by hand which, as you know, is very time consuming. He agreed to build a motor for Mazz if Bob would get his heads from Jeff. Thanks for the compliment about Dad. I think he's pretty special too.

Happy holidays to all!

Danny Smith car is a cuda.

Danny also owns a Dart he purchased from the Jenkins family in 2000. It's the original Shirley Shahan car.

Also, a few duplicates in the above list. Steve Wann/Michael Ogburn drive the same car. Chuck Rayburn doesn't have a SS/AH car, it was sold to Roger Mayhan.

i knew he had a dart, i remember it was yellow and said Jenkins on the side...that was when he first got it. I didn't know he had cuda....is bruce at fast racing building the engines. Also this SS/AH cars run at national events right. I still dont get how they are different from SS/AA cars that run the hemi shootout.

I haven't seen Div.5 racer Pat Forsyth's SS/AA car in the last couple of years. I believe his Cuda was a body in white Arlan Vanke car. Maybe it will reappear.
