Toying with the idea of using my 73 barracuda for a race car. I don't want to cut the car up so as to be non streetable in the future (I was doing the pro-street thing) I have taken the guard beams out of the doors but the windows will stay. I guess set up like a stocker is the way I'm thinking. No wipers or heater, racing seats, striped out dash. Been tubbed, frames connected, roll bar, fuel cell. Glass hood, cal-trac Dana. You guys that have cars like this, how much do they weigh? How light can they be? Can I get it down to around 3000 lbs? I can do SB or BB auto. Any info or direction would be helpful.

my 72 is 3132 without me, full dash, interior, subframes and 4 point bar, it does have a pin on glass hood. back braced 8 3/4 not tubbed, all factory glass, carpet etc. You say "interior" that mean factory seats, front and back? What engine?

The wife's 73. Full interior, no heater, 512 BB/727, 83/4, driver and, spare tire, 3475 lbs 11.50 street car. She won't let me tune the engine because she will not put a bar in the car.

My '70 cuda is about 3600# w/o driver. It's a tank. The only weight reduction is aluminum wheels, Aerospace front disc brakes, a fiberglass hood (a heavy bolt on), and I removed the heater box. ALL factory interior is in place, nothing cut out, and it has a 10 point cage. Manual steering and brakes, 727 trans, Dana on leaf springs, and an all aluminum hemi (weighs the same as an iron block aluminum head 440).
CHIP '70 hemicuda, 575" Hemi, 727, Dana 60 '69 road runner, 440-6, 18 spline 4 speed, Dana 60 '71 Demon, 340, low gear 904, 8.75 '73 Chrysler New Yorker, 440, 727, 8.75 '90 Chevy 454SS Silverado, 476" BBC, TH400, 14 bolt '06 GMC 2500HD LBZ Duramax

Digger73 (Mike) Looks good, my color. radial tire? Suspension? Thanks for the compliment. The rears are Hoosier QT pros 27 x 11.5. The suspension is all stock up front and the rear is Mopar heavy duty leafs with Caltracks with air shocks. The biggest weight savings we did was to remove the extremely heavy front bumper inner structure and the outer bumper mount bracket. we do have an aluminum radiator, water pump\housing and, aluminum brake master cylinder. We still have all the glass and regulators. Digger73 (Mike)

motorhead446 on the board here is making me some aluminum bumper brackets front and rear for my 72, you might check with him That's one of the things I've been looking at. Also aluminum door hinges, cross member, wing mounts instead of engine mounts, lighter steering column, brake pedal, all this stuff would add up quick. Free hp, well cheaper maybe.

Mine 3350 give or take, had a few xtra bars installed sense the last time I weigh it anyway that's race weight stock body, glass hood, stock frame rails, tub back to the frame rails,BB with -1 heads, stock front suspension/ladder bars in the back.Best so far 9.40@142 Are the e-body's aerodynamic at that mph and above? Anything needed as the mph goes up? Not saying I'll be in that territory, but who knows.
