Hey, guys need help in fining out what I'm looking at....New to Mopar's.... Thinking about trading an 8N FORD TRACTOR... for this, if anyone could help I would greatly appreciated it. I'am told this is a 68 383 motor 60 over.Newly rebuild never fired so I'm told.. I have the casting numbers off block 2468130-10-5.4 head numbers are 2406516-7 these numbers were given to me by owner of engine now. So going on his word these are correct numbers. He's asking $2,700. with a 727 trans. GOOD price???? Tractor going for around 3k. Like I said new to Mopar's... any help would be greatly appreciated .Anyone interested interested in trading BB motor for the tractor? Thanks, guy's.....

Hard to say what a motor like that is worth. Those aren't the correct heads for that block but that might not matter if you're just looking for a rebuilt big block.

It would cost you more than $3000 to find a core motor and have it rebuilt so in that sense it is a good deal. But if it isn't exactly what you need or want then it isn't a good deal. You'll just have to decide for yourself.

With Andye I'd be leary of that 60 over part myself, also a lot depend on who built the motor. I got burnt one time buying a "fresh" motor. Sometimes it's better to buy a core and build it your self or have a good eng shop do it for you. One that knows Mopars. May cost more but you'll know what you've got.

I would ask to tear it down for an inspection. otherwise, it's just a $300 core engine. how do you know that he didn't just wire brush the outside and paint it to look like a fresh rebuild?

how do you know the clearances are ok inside of the motor? how well do you know the other person in this trade?
