I've heard stories of the aftermarket lights letting in moisture, fogging up, and not being DOT certified.
First-hand, I've seen some and they are over-sized for the fender housings and look strange. The one-piece (signals and heads in one unit) are hard to aim correctly. I've also seen some that look pretty good.
About the best I've seen are the two-piece Anzos (there must be 20 different kinds out there). But, I just scored a factory Sport bumper, grill, and the headlights for my 2Gen so I'm set and not going to fuss with the aftermarket crap.
The local classifieds always have the stock headlights for sale that some Kid has taken out to put some projectors in and they usually ask about $40 for them. Best way to go I think, for you would be to just pick something like that up. The chrome grills range from $50 to $100 as well. You can repair your own too and paint it body color or Rallye Wheel silver.
