Should the heater motor mounting plate be painted black or should it be natural steel??. When I took mine apart it was painted black. I know it was out of the car a few times over the years, so I don't know if it has been messed with. Yes, it is now painted black, since I just went back with what I took out. But after looking at some other boxes, I am now in question if it would be correct?

I've seen them both ways. I believe in 70 they were painted black and later they cut cost and deleted the paint
