Can you convert a set of originals to B1 MC's
I thought they were from the same castings.
What's entailed or is the valve angle the problem?

They start life as the same casting.. but when they make the
M/C head they move the valve over.. so the guide is moved over

You can do anything want with them if you are willing to spend enough money, but why would you? Why not just buy new castings or an MC setup?

You can but you will have to have custom guides with oversize od's made to move the guides over.

Wrong Mike, we flow tested your heads and they were 418 @.900 with a 2.400 valve and a 50 deg. seat, exhaust 313 @.900 with a 1.810 and a 45 deg. seat, this is how all the air flow wars start on web boards. Mike would you like a copy of your flow sheet ?

Your missing the point, people throw flow numbers out there and have nothing to back them up, we do and so do some others. If your not sure about something best not to make it up and mislead people. Its not a right or wrong thing also, flow benches differ, its a tool to learn with and make gains, that's all.

Some "hostility" here ?

Really just 419 from a ported b1 mc ?
Seems low to me, but I guess I'd be more worried about how well the motor ran.....

This is why I give guys before and after flow numbers. If you go on Stan Weisses head flow website you may notice a pattern of high numbers. I know I have and ignore those posted

1970 Duster
Edelbrock headed 408
5.984@112.52
422 Indy headed small block
5.982@112.56 mph
9.42@138.27

Livin and lovin life one day at a time

I use to flow my own stuff at work.. I'd just stay
around after work or do it at lunch time.. it was
in the head lab at Chrysler.. their numbers I could
go by since they werent trying to impress anyone..
they just got as good as they could with a certain
design and then it went on the dyno.. that is the one
thing that I miss after retiring... but thats all
wave

That's a tuff question and everything being the same (but why would you ) maybe 40 to 50 and that's maybe. Every engine we build is different and not to many what all they can get, some due but not many. Maybe give us a call and we can go over you combination .

A flow number is just a number and a higher one may or may not make the car actually go faster. We also don't race dynos and flow benches.

Several guys, some on this board even, spout some ridiculously high dyno numbers for their motors, but when the car runs, the numbers just aren't there.

I get calls every day about motor combos. Seems there are guys on every street corner with 434, inline valve head small Chevy's that make 900+ hp, according to them, or some dyno sheet they have in hand but I have been doing this stuff a LONG time and have YET to see one myself.

So when it comes to flowing your heads or dynoing your motor........find someone you trust to give you REAL numbers, be they good or bad and who is not interested in impressing the masses.

Local shop to me has a dyno he calls the "Humbler", because he is NOT an engine shop and has no affiliation to any. Just a dyno facility. He hurts LOTS of feelings...........LOL!!! But funny how the engines he pulls, the cars run where they should. What a novel idea.......LOL!!!
