I have heard many different things about the option of putting LA heads on a magnum block. I know you can find ways to make ot work but I have also heard that some earlier block still having the oiling provisions in tact. I have my engine down to bare block and cam bearing, is there any one that can tell me by pictures of the deck etc if they still exist and if not what provisions I need to make to run the LA heads. I'd like to keep this block if possible as it has the roller setup and its also a very low mile block. I appreciate your assistance ahead of time.

You can see those 2 gallery bulges in the valley if the block has em & reportedly they can be drilled out if they are present but not drilled. easiest would be to tap into the 1/8 NPT sender port at the top rear of the block & T & run em to the back of the heads & drill horizontle into the threaded boss in the rear of the heads then drill down from the top at an angle in the threads in the rearmost pedestal. You'd have full time oiling with that as opposed to timed cam oiling so size the orifice to get the amt of volume you need.

I don't have pictures because I ran into this very early in the Magnum block production. The block I had did not have the oil port drilled through the block to the cam bearings. I took an LA head in with the block to my machine shop and they used the head as a guide to drill the holes in the block from the head surface to the cam bearing holes. New cam bearings were installed after the drilling process was complete. I don't remember the price at the time, but I remember thinking it was quite a deal. Of course, I had a long standing relationship with that machine shop that likely resulted in some of the positive results.
I put 40,000 + miles on that motor before I sold the car it was in. Gene

Thanks everyone, I want to upload the pictures but the ones on my phone are to large for the forum so I'll have to resize them and maybe you all can pin point the oiling provisions for me. This is a crate motor from Mopar years ago.

No but you might Google it & see if a specific # comes up for oversizes (or call Mahle)

Here are a magnum and an LA block. Note the top hole in the deck between the 1st and 2nd bores is missing on the magnum, that is the passage for oil supply to the rocker shafts on LA's.
