I have the body of the 68 almost completely stripped all that's left is the 1/4 windows and trim. Can someone please tell me how to remove them safely? It's a non post car.

Thanks

There are 2 bolts that hold the glass to the regulator. After the back seat is out and the arm rest and window crank handle are removed, pop off the side panel and remove the screws holding the chrome strip and the metal upper panel. Remove the plastic, slip the window crank back on and roll the window to where you can get to the 2 bolts with a socket and extension. Good luck!

Thanks. Sounds easy enough.

Now for the hard part...How do I get the crank assembly out? Just take out all of the bolts and it will come out? or is there a trick to it?

Well, I didn't take the back regulators out of mine, so I can't really help you there. I noticed there was a lot of fore and aft and in and out adjustment on everything so I just left mine in there. Everything does just bolt in, but if it were me I'd find some way to mark everything to get it back close to where it was. I'd also take some pics before taking it apart. If you are going to change 1/4 panels I'd cut the old 1/4s off first, then you can see everything a lot better. Once you get in there you'll understand it a lot better.

FWIW I'd be soaking the bolts holding the window to the regulator for a couple days before trying to remove them, I've seen lots of used windows at swapmeets with the bolts broken off in them...

Rear window regulators are the worst part of a resto. LOL I have not encountered a more frustrating part. If you do get them out, wait till you try to get them back in, adjusted so they seal, and go up and down smoothly. If you are not doing any blasting I recommend removing the window and leave them in. However, like someone said above. Chances are you will twist off the bolts holding the glass. Good Luck !

Sounds like tons of fun. I am going to be sand blasting it. Maybe I should just take the glass out and some how mask them off the best I can?

Is there a source for those bolts, and or are they a special shoulder bolt?

Yes...count me amongst the frustrated "breakers" of said bolts. I am still trying to figure out how I am going to get them back in. As for the rest of the assy, it unbolts.
