People I know who have one are impressed with the power. Bad bad fuel mileage (You knew that) It was never intended to take the place of a diesel but it accomplished its mission- to out do GM and Fords big displacement gas truck engines.
Keep old mopars alive.

I have read of at least four V10s that had bore wall cracking in the last several years. I don't think it is a common fault, but it has happened enough to show up in several posts on Ram truck forums. TSB's http://dodgeram.info/tsb/index.html

Some of the engine problems were caused by incorrect routing of the plug wires that would cause crossfiring and break #7 piston or crack the cylinder wall. Some of the earlier engines had head cracking problems similar to the 5.9 and the cats were junk on them but yours will probably have been replaced or removed by now. Mine has been totally reliable for the four years I have had it.
