What would be the best stock intake for a small block ? I need one for a circle track car and have to run the 4412 500 holley. I can run a 4 barrel with a 1 inch adaptor plate. I was thinking a 340 intake. THANKS

I assume you are running hobby stock or street stock, what rpm range are you going to be running in?

Ah...so many pedestrians, so little time...

I bet a spreadbore 340/360 thermoquad intake would flow decent for what it is, although what would happen to that flow if you have to put on a spreadbore to squarebore adapter plate is the question...

Also the newer 318-360 4bbl manifolds have smaller runners that more closely match a 318 head than a 360 head.

Since you are restricted to a small carb I would try to find a manifold with the biggest plenum and make it bigger if I could, this will leave you with a spread bore manifold from 71 or 72, biggest plenum and runners and no EGR.

Also if you do end up with a 1 inch spacer than probably going with an open type would make more power but only testing will prove me right or wrong.

I have used the later 360 thermoquad egr intake (off a '76-'77 Cordoba) on a 318 with good results. I just plugged the EGR holes inside the manifold, and added a 4150 carb adaptor for a Holley 600. I think the intake cost me $10, the carb adaptor was $15.
