my buddy finished up a 72 duster last year. he used a b-body 8 3/4 rear with out narrowing it. he also bought 15x7 wheels with 4"bs. the wheels were not what i would have picked to maximize tire sizes, but he was stuck with them as they were non re-turnable close out specials. so, in order to make the wheels work on his car, i used 205-60x15 on the front[24.5 dia. x 6" wide] and 225-70x15 rear[26 dia. x 7" wide]. these are bfg ta's with the white letters. [he had to have white letters too.....] these fit great with no rubbing issues at all. keep in mind a couple things. #1, he used a b-body rear that was not narrowed. i would, and did, mock up several tire/wheel combos that found you could fit 275-60's on 8" wheels with a 4 1/2"-5"bs. and to center the tire in the wheel openings, i fabbed a 3/8" spacer for the rear spring forward bracket. the driveshaft also needed checked and adjusted, but i forget what length shaft we used. #2, the front tire size could be adjusted some what, but the wheel offset prevented much adjustments there with the ride height he decided on. and #3, he just bought the wheels without even considering or thinking about any bs. issues what so ever. now i MADE these wheels fit HIS combination, but i would have done things differently if it was my ride. hope this helps in some way.

Rim maker shouldn't matter as much as rim size and backspace. If I were you I would thoroughly plan the build before purchasing anything much less rims and if I had a question I would buy either a backspace guage or a cheap rim and a used tire to see if my choices are solid. For instance if you decide to go with an aftermarket rea disc brake you my need a bigger than 15 inch rim to clear the calipers, if you plan to build it with available to you parts you might end up with a B-body rear which woudl dramatically change the backspaced needed as outlined above. If you know you are going pure stock and will either pay for an A-body 8.75 or will live with a 7.25 then you might have enough info to order rims and tires jsut make sure before you drop the dough. The other thing I see to regularly is people jump into buying parts and then change direction or buy tires and 6 years later when they get it done the tires are in a bad date/age range, yes I buy into date codes on tires. Maybe you're a build it 6 month kinda guy or the build while you ride type, you gotta make that call but be realistic. Just a lot to think about.
Careful, your character's showing!
