Just preparing to install a dash cap cover over my rotted dash pad. It will be black. Any do's and don'ts? Method to cut down the humps where the cracks are? Fill the cracks after knocking down high spots? I also dont have an adhesive to use. Any suggestions there? As you probably figured, this is not a 10 point resto.
Thanks in advance.

Very easy project that will make a huge difference in the appearance of your interior. I installed a cap on my 71 Charger and the results were very good. Be sure to follow all instructions as supplied by the manufactured with surface preperation being the most important. Also have do a "dry" fit to judge where you need clamps etc. Have all clamping tools ready prior to glue application. I have attached a few pictures of my job.

It's not a really difficult job but it does take some time to get it right. Get rid of those raised edges where the creacks are. Fill in the cracks with bondo and sand down flush. Make sure the old dash is fairly flat. Dry fit before you glue. Glue only around the edges. Use the right glue (from manf.). If you have a map light above the instruments, remove it and use it as a guide for the cut out. Make sure you have wooden wedges to wedge beteewn the dash cap and windshield and heavy things to sit on top of the cover to hold it down. Use bunji cord or tape to hold the lower edges in place. If it's done well, you almost can't tell it's a cover and not the real thing.
