Certainly a thanks to Dodge and Roadkill Nights for putting on a free event. Clearly, no small level of effort.

Overall, I was a little disappointed. I've been to other flashlight drag and this one was a little stuffy. Most of the cars racing were not that interesting, it really was not a grudge race atmosphere, the race cars were some what isolated form the spectators, there was nothing but asphalt, too few food vendors, the fencing made visibility difficult, spectating was not user friendly.

We found Woodward to be much more interesting and fun.

It is unlikely we will go back to the Silverdome.

Goes to show you, always read the fine print.
With all the sweating on my half over getting a helmet during the early part of the day and finally getting the tires to within pressure to handle my stove, I never realized that the grand prize Hellcat drivetrain was to be dueled only between the Dodges and not the whole field. Shheee, even Plymouths and other Chryslers weren't allowed to compete for the Kitten engine.
Thinking the whole field was going for the prize, I felt I did not want to compete in such a large overall field with a drunk car.
It turned out that the Dodge field was not as large after all. Dahhhh, should have known that Dodge is not going to give away a Hellcat drivetrain to just anybody outside of Mopar to dismantle. I thought they were going to shut down everything at exactly three hours after start due to a curfew so I left early so that I could try and meet cats at the Donut Cutter.
Oh well, much cud's and congrats to the Bee.
Glad he got it.

Correct.

Faster, Faster until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death...

71 Swinger - slowly collecting dust/parts
66 Belv. II - just a streetcar
88 Mustang - turbo LS beater

Yes, from what I now know.
I found it strange that Plymouths, Chryslers, and AMC's were all separated from us Dodges. Different lanes.
I guess being that Dodge is the remaining Performance arm of the company, and that Dodge was sponsoring the event and giving away the engine and Trans, (6 speed at that,) they only wanted Dodges to race for it.
I did not understand it and other lose rules, time limitations or else I would have stayed in the rounds and blown off going to Woodward.
I love racing after dark. I wonder why.LOL.

you down... wish I had my junk ready... if I would

Supposedly, there was no timing system to record ET's and such but an old school street race vibe on who got to the stripe first.
That Bee looked to be in the mid to low 11 second bracket.
Even with a quicker car, it was a very trial and error type of running with all the humps and bumps along the way. I gather (THEY) intentionally kept the course course and rough so that people would not get comfortable and over run their boundaries like that Tin lizzy did at the wall.
The shut down was calling for Murphy's Law with my four way (DRUMS) and I for one was not looking to meet him.
That in itself was the only concern that was mentioned over and over again by the announcers.
