Do you guys have any tricks to aligning the top plate of the console? My top plate doesn't seem to sit flush with the shifter bezel.

thanks,
Karl

They fit like crap from the factory. I had better luck with an original top plate then I did with a reproduction. I bought another used top plate and ground away some material on the bottom side so it fit nicer.

It's not "correct" but I also spaced my console up off the floor slightly. Originally, the shifter bezel pushed up on the edge of the console. That's why a lot of consoles are bowed and/or broken in that location. I spaced mine up so that there was no pressure being put on the console.

they sure do fit like crap, but mine didn't have such a noticeable gab between the bezel and the top plate until the carpet was changed.
I was hoping there might be a trick to shim it to remove the gap.
