Slow progress is still better than no progress. I have to admit, I like the way it looks and Hogan's manifold, with billet runners is Jewelry. Can't wait to get it on the dyno and do some tuning!

Typical stuff - not! First time I've machining the front cap/saddle and crank counterweight for a roller Torrington thrust bearing. Customer never wanted a thrust problem. Good parts: KB block (4.5) with roller cam bearings, Crower 4.625 crank/rods/Enduramax bushed lifters, CP pistons. Custom Comp cam that I designed with 18726543 firing order (LS core), Stage-V stainless rockers and Jesel drive. The Stage-V Millennium heads were done by Tim at FHO and flow well over 500 CFM. Obviously a super pretty Hogan manifold. Everything is O-ringed so no gaskets. It should produce enough to get to the grocery store, which is 1/4 mile away.

This engine is basically a slightly smaller version of engine combo 6 in my HEMI book, built for bracket racing longevity with less RPM, less compression, and a milder cam.

Sorry. A lot, but the customer paid in advance. I don't have the total. All I did was make sure the ports would match.

588, Stage V millennium heads ported by FHO, all Crower internals, roller bearing cam, KB block, cam is my design (LS core, 18726543), Hogan intake, relatively low compression (13+). Dyno in two weeks.

Even though the header ports didn't match the heads, and no vacuum pump and only 13.6 CR, it still made 1100 HP. It'll be a good bracket motor.

no, nothing specific. just think of it as an extension to your book! whatever you have time for. it's just a great learning experience to see what goes into an engine like this.

I think a good "white Paper" would be to discuss what I had to do differently to get around problems. Such as the special oiling system of a KB block usually feeds the lifter galleys (extra cost gun drilling) from a groove cut around the #5 cam bearing, but if you increase the cam bearings to 55 MM roller bearings you loose the oil feed channel. Then what do you do? Maybe I'll write an article about surprises of building a big block Mopar engine with aftermarket parts.

I would be very interested in this as I am thinking of building another Hemi for my car, more along these lines only setup for turbo's. Great job with this build.
