Anyone else out there have trouble with attaining wide open throttle with the Bouchillon kick down kit installed? With the kit installed per the instructions I was only able to get approx 3/4 wide open.

Ended up having to shim down the rear of the Bouchillon bracket for the cable to over come and go wide open. I now have it approx 90% but still not full wide open. Just curious if any else has come across this and if they had suggestions. Kit is installed on a Holley 4150 that's on top of a Victor W2.

Thanks

Not to sidetrack your thread or anything. But I have a question for anyone that has this or any other brand of kickdown cable setup.

Did it make any change to the way your gas pedal feels? Like easier to push the go pedal without all that heavy metal linkage between the carb and the tranny?
My pedal is pretty stiff feeling and would like to lighten it up some.

Here are a few pics. Would cable length have anything to do with my issue? The cable I'm using is a lot longer than it needs to be, wonder if it maybe binding?

I didn't notice a big difference.

Looks like you need to slide the trans bracket back, its too far forward.

as said by CNXT the trans cable bracket needs to slide back & there is a button spring loaded release just behind where the cable snaps into the bracket it is on the carb side in your picture,so you can adjust the distance, right now your cable is push all the way back in the adjuster.

Thanks for the info, I'll try moving it back. With the trans cable where it is it seems that the trans is working correctly, how will moving the trans bracket back affect the throttle?

Thanks

none, just don't let it move.

I could try and take a picture of mine on Saturday if that would help. Mine works good where it is set.

open the carb to full throttle and then adjust both cables.

Moving the trans cable bracket back will not help his problem. Its not like the stock system which pushes back on the linkage if you look when you mash the accelerator the trans cable is connected to the bottom of the carb linkage so when the carb is opening its pulling the trans cable out from the bracket because its hooked to the bottom of the carb linkage. If anything moving the trans bracket back could actually make his problem of the accelerator not opening all the way worse.
But from what I see the throttle cable itself if its adjusted all the way out so you can idle and then when mash it all the way down its only 90 percent it means your cable does not have enough length or travel using it with the new Bouchillon carb bracket they send with the trans cable kit.
Bouchillon also sells accelerator cables that have the extra travel to work with their kickdown cables I think that will solve your issue.

Looking at it again, I agree with drag racer.

Disconnect the kickdown cable and adjust throttle until it opens fully, then connect and adjust the KD cable.

If you do find out your accelerator cable is to short to work with the Bouchillon carb bracket and their kickdown bracket I have a brand new one I ordered from them that I will sell cheaper than what I paid for it if you are interested. They have only two different ones one fits a square hole in the firewall the other a round hole. When I ordered the first one I was on the road they said I more than likely had a square one but mine was round so I have brand new square hole cable if that is by chance what you need to fix your problem and im pretty sure looking at your pics a longer travel cable like they sell is what you need to solve your issue with their brackets.
