Does this wipe pattern look right? Looks too narrow IMO but I am not sure. At least it is centered. This is just the #1 intake valve, have not checked any other valves yet.

The combo is a 340/416 using RHS LA heads. Cam is a solid F/T - .556" lift intake and .549" ex. with Hughes 1.6 rockers to yield .593" in. and .586" ex. Using Hughes rocker stuff - shafts, hold downs, etc.

Heads are not fully torqued yet, just snugged down with head gaskets in place. Inner valve springs removed. No rocker stand shims.

Adjustable pushrod measures approximately 7.5". I don't have a large enough caliper to measure accurately. Looks about right to me but again, just checking. Appears much longer than stock and shorter than my last 340/W2 combo which were exactly 8.00".

Thanks for any input/suggestions.

Some guys would kill to get a pattern like that but it should be in complete ready condition. I still think it will look great.

I'm pretty sure the narrower the pattern the better (less lost motion)

I was wondering about having everything tight and ready to run. Will I see a variance with everything tight and could it be adjusted if necessary?

Want to order pushrods, just want to make sure I get the right length.

Just thought of two more things I had questions about - I only had about a thread and half of the adjuster showing underneath the rocker. Is that enough or do I want more like 2-3 threads?

#2 - should lash be factored in when checking the pattern?

Thanks.

I have some Manton push rods that has about 10 passes on them that are 7.60 and 7.64 length 11/32 x .120 wall if you can use them. They cost me $180.00 , I will take $100 plus shipping if you are interested. They have the ball on each end.

Re: Looks too narrow

The perfect sweep would be a line with no thickness, but that needs the rocker to be 3 feet long.
The ratio of gross lift (at the valve) to valve-side lever length controls maximum sweep, not geometry.

Thanks for the replies. Never thought I would hear the word perfect associated with something I touched but sometimes you get lucky.
