Anybody actually measured them?

All I have been able to find through the search function is "thin". No actual numbers posted.

Thanks!

The tube thickness can vary from year to year and which model it was under, the vans, C bodys and pick up where thicker than the A bodys one that I have seen when you cut the ends off to shorten them I think that they get thinner nearer to the center section also

I've got a bunch of tube segments left over from narrowing housings (yeah, I save everything) and they measure anywhere from .215"-.240".

All I can tell you is that the one that came out of the Cuda was thin compared to the one I took out of a C-body.

The one I narrowed for my car came from a pickup. It had 1/4" tubes.

1970 8 3/4 dodge phoenix axle tube.300 thou minimum near the end of the axle tube.

This could be part of the reason why some 8 3/4 diffs hold up behind 9 second cars and others break behind 12 and 11 second cars.

I am not doubting what you say, but 8.75 housing wall thickness has not been discuused on Moparts in the last 6? years I can remember. It would explain a lot though. Seems easiest way to determine would be use housing weights, or sonic testing for those with the equipment

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.
