I am putting a new oil pump on the race motor and I was wondering if I need any kind of sealant on the paper gaskets? It is the stock style high volume oil pump but I have a swinging pick up in the pan so there is an external line that goes to a plate between the pump and the motor so I will have 2 gaskets. I hate using any kind of sealant here because it has a good chance of going into the oil passages.

Thanks guys!!

With a quality gasket and good surfaces you shouldn't have to use anything but the gasket twocents

I use Gasketcinch as a gasket adhesive to keep gaskets like that in place up I use to make my own oil pump to block and the same on that Milidon tiny thin 2nd pckup adapter plate. I switch to the Milidon pump with the built in 2nd line fitting, no more gasket sealing problems or loss of prime either up scope I fought the loss of prime for several years and then started maikng my own oil pump to plate and the oil plate to block gaskets to prevent the loss of prime, which did work up I didn't punch a hole in either gasket for the stock oil pickup path to the pump, that solved the loss of prime problem shruggy

I agree, and FWIW Superformance sells a real nice quality oil pump gasket, everything else is paper. You can get them from Mancini

I agree , I have never used sealer on a BB mopar oil pump.

You bigger concern is the poor machining of the pump itself , last melling Hi volume I used leaked between the filter adapter and the main body , 10 sheets of sandpaper later, on a surface plate, and the bad machining marks on the cover were gone ... and the leak I had was stopped.

It's great that SUPERPERFORMANCE provides this gasket as a stand alone gasket. Last time I tried to get one from the local parts guy, they start with make, model & year.I just laugh and tell them it's a 71 roadrunner with a 440.The gasket only comes with the pump shruggy
