Anyone have the actual depths of stock big block oil pans (both standard and hemi)? Pan rail to bottom of sump.

Thanks,

Round numbers, I believe the "car" pan is 4 1/2" and the Hemi pan is 5 1/2".

At least the difference was enough that my '70E benefited from a K mounted skid plate to protect the re-pop Hemi pan... skid plate has earned its keep.

Which Hemi pan do you want to use , the 66-69 is deeper than the 70-71 ...

I have all the pans at home, I didn't get back on line last night.

Though I MIGHT have something here at work ???

I'm fabbing a K-member and made a jig with the stock b-body K. I want to make sure its low enough to protect a road race pan but didn't have a stock pan to compare it to for depth. So ideally I need the depth of a standard b-body, b-motor pan for comparison.

Ok , got it , the Hemi pan for 69 hangs below the K , I think I have a 402 pan here ...

The front of the sump of the 402 is 4.5" , it is ABOVE the bottom of the K frame .

A 70-71 hemi in my experience is LEVEL with bottom of K, I don't have it handy to measure.

John RR - you need to clean out your inbox ... can't send you a PM

So I'm thinking that rather than mess around trying to figure pan depths, it might be easier to know how far the engine pan rail is above the K at the front of the block. Can anyone measure that and let me know.

Much appreciated !!

The board change added over 1000 PM's to my box , it's going to be a while before I get them cleaned out ...

I will get over to a friends in the next couple of days and get that, he has a 69 B body with 402 pan that is the easiest for me to get to .

If you can, just measure from the pan rail on the block to the K. I'm heading to Carlisle so can probably do it there but you can imagine what might happen if I crawl under some guys car with a tape measure !!

Not sure if you'll see this from Carlisle but I measured from the pan rail on the block straight down to the K frame and it was about 4.75 , maybe 4.875 .

Not sure if the K goes a little lower from that point towards the center? The 402 pan looked ALMOST flush with the bottom of the K , it has 2 Fel pro black gaskets and a stock mopar Windage tray.

Thanks. I crawled under a car at Carlisle and got roughly the same measurements.
