Does anyone happen to have a flexplate or converter they could measure the distance between bolt holes? I bought a dual pattern OEM replacement flexplate (ATP brand maybe) and a Hughes 27-20 904 converter. The converter uses the smaller 10" pattern but the flexplate refuses to line up. I started to measure the flexplate and converter and they are both an offset pattern but I don't know which is right. Even flipped the flexplate over and the holes line up even worse.

the converter and flexplate only line up in one position. On of the legs and holes is offset.

Yep, I learned that the hard way about 15 years ago trying to sneak in a higher stall converter on my Satellite without telling Dad, haha. I've spun the flexplate around about a dozen times, then flipped it over and tried it backwards. Can't get it to line up in any position. Hughes said the converter is definitely offset and it measures offset. The flexplate is an OEM replacement and measures offset as well, just by a different amount. I'm guessing either the flexplate was stamped crooked or one of the lugs on the converter isn't where its supposed to be.

I line them up then paint a corner..

All Mopar offset converters have a lug offset by 2 degrees. It's a long story why Mopar did this - if you have an internally balanced engine and a neutral converter get a rat tail file out and make it fit.

If you have an externally balanced converter and engine package - you need to make things line up. The driveplate only fits the engine one way as the crank bolts are offset too for the driveplate.

Thanks for the replies. Since the new flexplate and converter both have an offset pattern, I was hoping to identify which one was made incorrectly. I'll see if I can borrow an original flexplate to compare. At this point I don't know if the flexplate or converter is the improperly made part.
