Just ordered a 50" straight axle from speedway with the ford spindles and 11" rotors for my '63 Polara. Stuff should be here friday. Never messed with one of these before but can't wait to get welding. Any advice from anyone who has done them before would be appreciated. Will check back tomorrow night, thanks. JP

A few years ago there was an article about in one of the Mopar mags someone from Seattle that did nothing but straight axle Mopars. Someone with a better memory or from the area may know more.

Good advice right there. I had a buddy with a straight axle '55 Ford. With only a little caster it was a nightmare in the shutdown area. He got as much as he could in it and it was lots better.

Wow, thanks for the info. I was a little worried because of some horror stories I've heard but obviously people have made it work. Kit comes with springs and hangars at on end and shackles at the other. If I can keep the bare K member for engine mount, steering box mount and rigidity I will. If not, motor plate and have to figure out steering box mount. I will have lots more questions as this thing takes shape. Thanks again, JP.

There have been some horror storys about Speedway suspension parts over on the HAMB. I'd suggest carefully looking over each part and how they work together. Most of the stories have to do with parts under stress (poor design) failing at key points (design and materials).

Thanks for the warning. I'll check it out when I get it out of the box. Don't want anything up there breaking!

Thanks for the info. Big Dad, The whole car (63 polara 500)cost less than that tri 5 set up. The links and tech just got saved, was going to print the tech until I saw it was 32 pages! Anyone know why some guys set up leading link and most mopars (not all) appear to be trailing link?
