The guy that painted my duster traded me a set of fiberglass front fenders for my 73/72 dusters.Well the fenders did not come with head light buckets, So i bought a set through unlimited fiberglass. I kind of understand how they mount but would like to get some tips and advice from people that already have installed a set.
Also i want to install my head lights but i am wondering how you keep the spring for the metal head light bucket from ripping through the fiberglass bucket?

Sounds like it might be easier to use stock buckets if you want to use real headlights.

I would call the manufacturer and ask. But would probably install a metal grommet to keep it from wearing. I installed a one piece f/g front and welded in the buckets and mounts. A pain doing.

Sir that would be awesome. up This is my first time messing with fiberglass fenders so sorry for the dumb questions.
I was thinking about if i couldn't get the fiberglass buckets to work, to find a junk set of fenders and cut the head light bucket out of them and use them.

I took a couple pics but cannot figure out how to post them here. Looks like they cut holes on the fenders behind the lights and just bolted the metal buckets to the fender, I see no way of adjusting them,I don't have my lights working, but am planning to get them hooked up and make this a pro street/ drag car. Guess i'll have to figure our a better way of mounting them myself if I want any kind of adjustments.

Just did it on a set of 1968 Dart fenders. The first thing you have to do is cut the nose of steel fenders about 1/2 back removing the flange. Then cut the outer skin of the fender saving the area you want to mold on the fiberglass fender. Position it on the glass fender using the headlight bezel for proper location. Go to NAPA and get the epoxy adhesive called Plastic Welder, great stuff but you have to work fast once mixed. Glue the steel bucket to the glass fender in proper location. Once hardened I finished it off by mixing fiberglass resin and cut up cloth and blend in surfaces together. If you need pictures post your home email and I will send pics of mine. Take you time and good luck.

My Glass fenders had the front bucket area molded in. It would be easy to install the prefab fiberglass buckets but your painted right now so just be careful and then use black spray paint to hide your work..

You must grind a V at the edge and then lay some glass mat on the front and back. Two layers each side would do it and you can get all the stuff from Walmart. Just clamp it so it don't move, then mix the resin and Matt then lay it up and work the bubbles out before it drys. Spray paint black when done.

Watch out, it is in the buckets where most of the weight lies in most but not all fenders.

I don't have a clue who made the fenders, my painter got them in a trade from somebody. one reason i put them on my 73 was becasue i got the front end off my 72 parts duster and the front fenders are usable but it was going to take time and money. So my painter had these available. But if its going to end up taking a lot of time and money to get the fiberglass buckets to work 0on my car, i will just put my 73 duster front end on, its fenders and hood need very little body work and then just paint them. Sounds like i might be in over my head on these fiberglass fenders. Did i for get to say i really suck at fabing stuff?? lol

Mopar65. PM and private email sent with pictures. I had to use the steel ones because the fenders from US Source were real junk. The headlight buckets were 1/2" to far forward and 1 1/2" short on the bottom. The fender attaching flange had more waves in them than the Atlantic Ocean during a hurricane. Not to mention one was 1/4" to short in length. The profile of the fenders were off to the doors, so I had to make cuts in the bracing and re-fiberglass them into the correct position. Good thing I know how to repair them myself, otherwise they would have been out in the trash.

Keep the original metal fenders. The fiberglass ones don't save you much in weight if anything and the quality and fit is worse as you are seeing, plus the extra fab work.

Not worth the Effort on the front fenders on the A bodies, IMO Doors and hood , yes.

Hey Sport440 how have you been? me about to pull my hair out over this car.lol Sport I went with the fiberglass fenders becasue i was wanting to put a 72 duster front-end on my car.I really like the looks of the 70-72 better than the 73+ cars.At the time i thought i was saving time and money going with the ones i have now, becasue my factory ones was going to take lots of time and money to fix. pulse at the time i did not have the money to buy a different set of fiberglass fenders. Also I ran out of time and money to have the rest of the duster done by the paint guy. So looks like i am going to have to learn how to do body work and paint my self Which is pretty scary.lol becasue i am really thinking hard about just putting the 73 front end on it. I am about ready to sell it and take up bird watching.
