Hi,
Replacing the Windshield on my 70 GTX. I have the gasket and the 3m rope. Not sure what I am suppose to use for the seal around the gasket. I have read I need to put some sealer at the bottom of the gasket by the cowl and also on the sides. Question is what sealer should I use?

Thank you,
Joe

Hi,
All I see is the ribbon sealer. Is that what I use? I expected something in a tube or a cauch (spelling).

My terminology is old school so the names on the product have probably changed..

Butyl is non hardening, so it will flex with the car and keep its seal.

You can use a more modern urethane, but it will harden and will require and new gasket if you ever replace your WS.....

Should be in a tube to fit a caulking gun....

Don't use urethane.

It also might be referred to as liquid butyl or 3M bedding and glazing compound. Part number should be in the factory service manual in the body section. Thats where I found it when I had to do my windshield in my charger a few years ago.

That will work...

Agree with do not use urethane, just suggested that it would work if last resort..
