I have to do new headers for the hemi conversion and am considering fender exit. Are there any muffled options that would let me drive on the street?

Thanks!

Ideas?

A round trip to Kingman would be the best money you ever spent for headers.....

Al Alguire was over the other day checkin out Thumper and he said the same thing about my Hooker Fender-wells and a visit to Kingman and we both agreed there could be 40+ hp easy in a race header. thumbs

Are there any street legal options for fender exit? I've done some googling and I like the idea of keeping the pipes away from transmission, lines, blankets, etc...., but I want to be able to drive it on the street (drag week). I don't think collector mufflers will cut it. Does anyone have experience with this set up?

Don't think it would be able to meet noise regulations for street use. I have been want to do fender exits on my car but don't want to give up street driving.

can't remember..... do you still have the stock K and torsion bars? going coil over and rack steering opens up a ton of room.

This is Todd Macshmiers(sp?) Drag Week camaro. He takes these bull horns off and buckles up some sidepipes for the street. Its not ideal, and its not very quite but it gets him by. Its moderately fast as well with a 7.6 something on drag radials and nitrous!

Hmm I tried to find a pic on the net with the pipes on it, no luck.

My Cuda is getting them done as we speak on Broke back mountain in Pa smile.
Car still has inner fenders and we're doing 2 x 2 1/8" x 4" w Vibrant mufflers...should be quite IN the car but outside not so much.

I'd be talking with some Alter K guys Greg. I know my tube K, coil over, rack steering opened up a ton of room. I can pull my trans only pulling the slip on collectors. You may not need the early exit.... or if you want to go that direction, I'm betting REF can make it happen.

The "Kingman" reference is for those out west fortunate to live near there. Greg Holman's business REF makes headers.... in a day. You call him up and discuss your needs, get an appointment day, drop your ride off in the am, and usually by mid/late afternoon you get the call to come get your car. I had him modify my Hedman headers for our iron head 360 and had him fabricate my W8 headers. He is truly a master.
