Blowers, turbos and nitros can make a Briggs&Stratten run fast. Take the blower off see how fast it runs. Or just let them all run one and watch the circus. Be like watching top fuel or funny car, gets old after awhile. I love that Barton runs in the 8s with a hemi challenger and he's a hero, but someone runs 8.38 with a factory stock blower and they are a circus. The first hellcat stocker that goes 8.37, we'll be worshiping them too. Technology is awesome. This is the new stock. Don't be mad because 50 year old stuff can't keep up anymore. That's hitting the nail right squart on the head. Times, they are a changin'. Exactly........People are bagging on the Fords........but when Mopar decides to offer the Hellcat motor in the Drag-Pack cars and they go fast, that guy will be a god. No secret that Mopar seriously took advantage of the rules in the late 60s with the Hemi Darts and Cudas.........but heaven forbid another maker do the same thing now. But here is the MAIN thing, other than class runoffs or if you meet the same class car in eliminations.........it don't matter how fast it runs. Stock eliminator is a bracket race NO not "Exacttly", imo a true test of an engine is what it can do on its on. It has nothing to do with manufactors. You put two fighters in a ring with nothing but bare hands, then give one a knife, still equal? Now you have a weapons race. You're only as good as the supercharger that's installed on engine. I don't dislike these add ons in fact I'm thinking of using a turbo on my race car. These cars are great for us car people, I had a GT 500 Shelby and now have a SRT 392, so I'm not stuck in old technology.

Guys, also just remember these numbers are all on a 9" tire... Without Traction Control..... That's what blows my mind...
Also Barton is not the only Mopar to be in the 8's.... Kevin Helms in the Teuton, Morris and Helms red car is deep in the 8.90's.... Also, the Hull car is there and also the TMH v-10 car is in the 8's as well as Alligruchi (SP) in his Barton prepared v-10... (I know I murdered his name and sorry for that...)
No news on the DP Hellcat.... That bothers me some... We are already 3 years behind on testing and testing so we can't catchup until a racer gets the engine.... The new DP 426 should help the N A group in FS/X but its delayed again also... Not sure what is happening there..

I remember a few years back, bracket racers whining about letting slow cars compete against the fast cars. What I think it really was about was having to wait at the tree for one, two, three or even four seconds but their complaint was safety, there was too much risk in a 150 mph car running down a 100 mph car. These 8 second (soon to be 7 second) stockers are against that very issue, but is anyone complaining about that safety aspect? There are legal stockers that run in the 14's!

These cars on a 9" tire are a crapshoot sometimes. I was at Earlville last year the weekend after Indy. Massel had won Indy with his COPO in Stock. At Earlville it spun hard every time he tried to leave and he went home after the first round.
They new cars do have traction control to a certain extent in that they can plug in the laptop and limit throttle opening, at least on the Fords.

Bad Ass!!
Technology.......Adapt or Die! Would people feel better about it if the classes were renamed? How about... FXSCS - Factory Experimental So-Called Stock RMFT - Rich Mutha Fugga's Toys SSWBCASS - Super Stock Without Being Classified As Super Stock TFXFS - Too Freakin' Expensive For Stock I'd love to own & race one, but I'll have to throw that idea into the "Well, you should have thought of that before getting married and having three kids" bucket.

Unless the rule has recently been changed...DBW is NOT legal in Stock or Super Stock, even if the car came that way from factory, because it CAN be used as a traction control Monte

I know alot of us grew up in the 60's and 70's like me and I just grew up with muscle cars that were pretty much all naturally aspirated back then and I guess its why I love the the N/A muscle cars the most and why I love the Nostalgic Superstock racing so much. I guess super and turbochargers were just not to great back then as the technology was nothing like today and they work so good today and add so much power to and eng that any serious contender for a very fast car has to run some power adder to even be in the ballgame. I am amazed at the amount of power superchargers and turbo's add to an eng as its crazy power. And the power adders that are huffers seem to work as good or better on engines that are not the biggest in size ?? So I guess it hurts our pride some to see a 300 to 350 cube eng car outrun our 426 Hemi SS cars. But I understand why and some do get offensive when I talk with them and I act less amazed to them when I say.........but it does have a supercharger on it and you do have to understand its not apples to apples to compare a blown car to a N/A car. And some get right in my face when I say that. But I am not taking anything away from the power they make and how fast they are as its awesome power and modern technology will let us take advantage of it if we choose. I think its great and I have the same respect for any fast car no matter whats under the hood. You cant knock that kind of performance and I know I could never play in that class of car as first I cant afford to even if I wanted to as thats for the big boys. And for me with my street car I dont want to go that fast on the street as I am more then happy with 10's. You have to love it and respect how fast technology has these cars going. I do still love the N/A bigblock muscle cars of the 60's and 70's and NSS best since I grew up with them. I do think it would be best though for NHRA to maybe put power adder cars in a class of their own and not with N/A cars. Ron

NHRA doesn't care, if it fills seats they'll go for it. There a whole bunch of Mustang fanboys to buy tickets. I just wish more people would embrace new engine designs.

Lets hope this helps sell more new muscle cars and in turn make building a modern bullet more affordable, and maybe just maybe get more younger people back into the sport. when the muscle car market went crazy and hemi cudas were worth millions I did not hear a lot of complaints but it made it harder for younger people to get into the sport and many turned to tuner cars and diesel trucks the bank loans on new stuff much easier. No 8 second race car is cheap and money alone is not the whole answer someone knows what they are doing and I for one want in.............
I still remember when fuel injection first came about and people wanted me to switch them back to carburation.
hot rodding and racing should in my opinion be all about moving forward with all the new means available that is the challenge and fun of it...
Mopar may not be making blocks because they figure why go backwards when the future is so much better.
The downfall for me is all the old things I have hoarded are loosing value fast.............
7oo horse daily drivers on pump gas and comfort sounds good to me.

Has stock ever really been "stock"? At least they look like whats on the showroom floor, unlike some other classes. Heck, let em fly... NHRA Stock was close to stock in 1973, cast iron exh manifolds & DOT street tires Didn't last long, each year rules changed and along came headers, 9" slicks, aftermarket valve springs, aftermarket rods, aluminum heads, etc
