Why not hide the box under the dash.
i need it to look stock. the real battery will be moved to the trunk, so i thought it would be the perfect place. i do not want to have a bare spot were the stock battery was.

One member posted a good thread on gutting a repro battery to put one of the little batteries into. Can't find it though. Basically in each cell there is a stack of lead plates that need to be taken/broken free and removed. Between each cell is a plastic divider separating each cell, these will need to be notched out as deep as you need it to be. Start out by putting on a good face shield, long rubber gloves and flush it out and neutralize everything as best you can then start cutting out the bottom. Opps, should also point out, a DEAD battery, as in a DEAD battery. Don't be getting hurt now.
I can't afford this.

What do you think you'll gain by moving the battery to the rear? How are you going to hide the big cable coming from the back. You do realize that cable will have to be half again as thick as a stock cable. Don't forget you need to vent the battery to the outside of the car not just to the trunk. Off gassing from charging will allow acid and fumes to build up in the trunk. If you decide to race you will have to have an approved battery box or a metal fire wall between trunk and interior behind the seat.

You won't notice enough gain to go through all that. Just add some weight lifting weights on top of the spare tire center and cover it with the cardboard lid and what ever you are covering it with now. You can use the hold down to keep them in place. That puts the weight in the optimal palce and still looks perfectly stock.

Ask some places selling new batteries if they have any display batteries that are empty.
I admire the idea of hiding the real battery out back and having a dummy up front in the original location but for what it's worth I'd mount the ignition box under the dash.
