A little history before the #'s...
I don't get to race much being so busy at work, and doing family stuff so I'm not able to try alot of things and find what the car likes without it taking some time.
I was trying to get the car to launch at an rpm above 3000, and so I tried 4000rpm once, back at the Mopar event at cali speedway and it blew the tires off. So I decided to dial it back to 3000 and leave it.
After talking with people smarter than me (Monte Smith on here, and Dave Smith at Pro Trans)it was decided that even though I'm stubborn and hard headed, I should listen to these guys and drop my tire psi. You'd think I would have tried it a long time ago.....
So last time out at the PSCA race I dialed the 2 step up to 3600rpm and dropped my tire pressure down to 13psi and it provided the launch I currently use in my sig! Very nice, but still the 60ft. was only 1.42-1.44. I was wanting very badly to get a 1.40 60ft.
So this time, before I went I scaled the car, and decided to move one 52 lb. battery from the drivers side of the trunk to the pass. side with the other 52 lb. battery.
This helped corner weight alot, and still provided me with a 50/50 dist.
So I get to the track, and wanted to try 3600rpm again before I make any changes...1.439 60ft., 10.60 at 125...air was humid and we only got one run on Sat.
So on Sun. they gave us one, that's right one time trial before eliminations
So for 120.00, we got 2 time trials in 2 days and on round of eliminations...
but that's another rant...!!
I decided to dial 2 step up to 4000rpm, thinking it'll probably blow the tires off and I'll just dial it back down...well it didn't!!!!!!!!!
1.377 60ft
and a 10.52 @ 125...and both sat. and sun. I had .029 and .046 lights!
That's what I'm talk'n 'bout
I almost shat myself though, the car came down really hard and bounced back up catching air again
This felt really bad at the steering wheel, so the whole way down the track I'm trying to see if the car broke the steering, I'm slowly turning the wheel and it doesn't really respond but I just stayed in it.
My friend was next to me in his Falcon, and he gave me a big
and I just looked over at him and shook my head....this is the first time the car...well I don't want to say it scared me....but it got my attention. I had forgoten that I dialed it up to 4000rpm, so it was a big surprise
First round I dialed the 2 step down to 3800rpm, and it left really nice, 1.39 60ft., 10.55 at 124...with a .036 light...
RED!
So that was my weekend...looks like now I need to slow the front end down, and start leaving higher...rpm that is!
