See pic - My tire guy said that mark was caused by stacking ( raised markings from another tire sitting against the white wall of this tire and bleeding in to it. Nothing I have used seems to get rid of it. Thoughts / suggestions? Thanks, John

I have since got a reply from Cooker tire on this. It is indeed bleed through caused by stacking - black from one tire laying against the white wall of another tire - and there aint no getting rid of it. frown

did you purchase the tire/wheel combo from coker ? if so, i would hope they would replace that tire without question. it shouldn't have been shipped like that. white walls/white letters are hard enough to keep clean with out having to deal with stack problems from the beginning. in the mid 60's when i worked part time at a neighbor hood tire shop, the guy that ran the place had a '39 buick 4dr. convertible sedan with wide whites. he had a bunch of old time ways to keep 'em clean, but time has erased those from my feeble mind. however, i remember some of those were slightly on the bizarre side. hope coker makes it right with you.

I've heard of these issues before from Coker. I suspect you will be living with them, the dirty whitewall is not considered a "defect" in the tire construction, at least that has been their position in the past, according to the guys over on the HAMB board.

Hopefully you will be able to surprise me with a better outcome. Gene

As much as I hate to admit it, I probably caused it. I didn't get them that way and the tires have been on and off the car multiple times during the build. Two are unmarked. One has a slight mark, and the one in the pic is the worst of the them. I think Cooker said there was a warning on them from the factory, but I got them mounted as a roller chassis, so - no labels. Won't be the first time a learned a lesson the hard way. frown

See if you can find some of this stuff. It needs to be old stock as they call it Black Magic now and it apparently has less of the nasty chemicals that made the old stuff actually work.

I use it during bug season for cleaning the windshield on my big truck. Squirt it on, wait a few seconds and give it a wipe with the window brush followed quickly with a water hose and the bugs just run off. You need to flush with LOTS of water because I think the active ingredient was liquid caustic soda.
