Confusion
I just picked up my new Challenger and I would like to put a really good coat of wax on it before it is allowed out into the elements. What is the very best, longest lasting wax I can buy to help protect it from acid rain, bird droppings, UV rays, and all other harmful things? I have read a little about a product called Zymol cleaner wax, and from all the reviews I have seen it looks really good. Has anyone had real world experience with that stuff? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

check out autopia.org, its a detailing forum, lots of good info there, i would suggest collinite products, there 845IW wax last a long time with good protection or try Clearkotte Carnuba moose wax, it lasts a long time and looks really good.

Mothers, Meguires, and 3M all make nice products.

I think the best bet is to keep the car washed as often as you have time for. Just because it's waxed does not mean that bird poo, tree sap, and other junk won't harm your paint.

BRAND new??? I would not use anything that has a "cleaner" in it, at least not yet. Cleaners are slightly abrasive...many a case of swirl marks (especially on black paint) began with cleaners.

Others may disagree.

I use LiquidGlass Wax, on any freshly painted new car, or restoration; usually takes 2 applications to seal the surface, road dirt, rubber from burnouts, road bugs etc, just wash off with a general car washing, no cleaners/ compounds needed just gentle car wash liquid soap, the only thing is, if you start using LiquidGlass, you must continue with it because other waxes haze the surface, but it dose leave the surface with a wet look, and very slick!

I've tried all the others from Mothers, Mequires, Rodshop, etc, the LiquidGlass was by far the best IMHO on new paint that hasn't been "waxed"

Thanks for the replies everyone! I don't have any pictures of the car yet, I brought it home the other night and it snowed the next day, so it has been in the garage ever since. I will try to get some pictures soon. The car is Torred. I just checked out the link mopwer posted for the Zaino products, that looks like what I am looking for. I don't mind spending a little extra money for something that will work better. Any suggestions as to which one of their products to use, there are a lot of them? I am guessing I should use the Z-2 with the ZFX activator??? Any other tips? Thanks!
