what is the effect on steering if your front tires are too large? would it serve to magnify any steering issues?

Wider tires will work the steering and suspension joints harder... any slop would probably be more noticeable. Also may tend to follow truck ruts or other pavement features more.

Besides making sure front end parts are in good order, correct "handling" alignment helps. Positive caster and toe in helps stability. Getting enough positive caster (3 to 5 degrees) and negative camber (-.5 to -.75 degrees) generally requires after market parts. OE toe settings are about right. Moog offset UCA bushings installed correctly or aftermarket UCA's with extra caster and camber built in.

not really wider, just really tall. put them on the front of my RR and now the car is all over the place. I think there is something in the power steering gear box hung up. I have a post in the Q and A section on that.
thanks!

you might want to give your lower control arm pins a good looking over. I didn't have pronounced issues until i changed wheels/offsets.

I have 315 front tires and on badly rutted roads you need to keep both hands on the wheel.

You would then find that your steering is now controlled more by your right foot, if you have sufficent HP. drumhit

A simple thing to remember regarding tire contact patches:

"Tall" tires (~55-60-65-70 series) will have a longer tire patch and want to drive/accelerate better going straight.

"Short" tires (~50-45-40-35 series) will have a wider tire patch and want to drive/handle better in the corners.
