Getting my 71 moving under her own power again. Was a 3 on the tree someone converted to on the floor. I got the truck sans motor and trans. I originally had a 318/727 stuffed in there. Decided to go back to 3 speed. I'm using an 83 318, 72 cast iron bell and cast iron 3 speed.

I grabbed a zbar from a 79. I forgot the rod (which I now am wondering if it is usable on the 71?).

I crawled under there to see if it would work but can't be sure. I'm using a 72+ trans crossmember (71- one was missing). I think the alignment is off (also using 72+ motor mount brackets).

Anyone know if the Zbar is the same? Or even the rod that goes from the pedal to the Zbar?

Ok after fiddling with a slant six and small block zbar, I can guarantee that they are indeed different.

Might be because I'm using an auto column?
