would be the alum case 833OD 4 speed that used a truck shifter/mount with long tail shaft.
225 /6 833OD 4 speed 8 1/4 rear = 10 bolt with a 2.76 gear turning a 195/75/15
FYI.. the B-body 833 4 speed with a pistol grip shifter is a bolt in for the trucks also. /6 work great with a regular 4 speed as well.

The good one. A833od and if it's all in one piece will have the good shifter too. And, even better yet, it is behind a /6 so you know it couldn't have been under too much stress.

If you really want to get creative, gm used the exact same transmission behind some of their 4wd trucks. The only ones I've seen were behind 6.2 diesels but another source for you may be from some gasoline trucks. At any rate............you will have something that comes with a transfer case, and with a bit of research on your part, should be able to bolt to a Dodge bellhousing somehow (input bearing size, input shaft length). Get my drift? Blunder Motors transfer case will be the weak link, not the A833 trans.

Get it, for sure. Grab everything: the pedals, linkage, shifter, bellhousing, all of it. Took years for me to find one in a D100 with the 318. The 318 bellhousing is pure gold to me (needed for stroker small blocks) and since there is nothing but negative things said on here about this trans, I had to find out for myself. So I got one, and can't stop driving it. Ignore the negative on here about the a833od: this thing is a hoot to drive and I'm going this route on all my hotrods instead of the $5000.00 alternatives. Hope that answers your "valuable" question.

Blunder Motors transfer case will be the weak link, not the A833 trans. BM or GM used the same transfer cases as Dodge. They were New Process cases.

Thanks. I told a friend about it. He grabbed the Shifter (a factory Hurst unit) and the Z-Bar. Not sure I can afford the time or money to pull the Trans, bell housing, etc. though it might well be worth it for resale. the trans is good to save if nothing other than to sell it to brewers as a core. /6 bell maybe not so much. your buddy got the gold nugget. hope he grabs the mount & rods.

I have two and half of them, plus a V8 bell and a /6 bell and the shifters, linkage, clutch parts etc from a truck sitting in my garage awaiting transplant into the Cuda. Whole mess of stuff I bought off a seller on Ebay for like $200 for everything.
Not really valuable as most think it's weak, with too wide gear rations and first too deep. But if you look at what's coming out today, deeper first, weaker trans, etc.
They say there are no such thing as a stupid question. They say there is always the exception that proves the rule. Don't be the exception.

I grabbed the shifter assembly, handle, rods, levers, mounting pad, etc. I also grabbed the zbar in hopes of using it on my 71, even though the 71 is a 318 and the truck the zbar came from was a slant six. Gonna use the shifter on a 3 speed

I would grab the reforcement plate off the floor board for the shifter....I'm getting ready to do this swap in my 86 RC....not a 4wd though.....Dr.Diff was the first person that told me a about the Cheby's....even showed me a picture of it on the floor.
I wouldn't mind finding one on of these cheby 833 my self.
