So I have a 98 Ram 2wd, with 360 , is there any reason that I couldn't put the tranny from my 98 with the 360 into an 01 with 318 engine? Is this a straight up swap or was anything changed by 01? I know in the old days the only concern would be the tork convertor. Thx, Ken.

It's a straight physical swap but the interchange manual will advise "Control module might require programming to allow proper shifting."

Just swap the temp sensor and pigtail in the valve body. If you don't it will not get LU or OD as the sensors are calibrated different as it will think it is extremly cold.
The converter is the same basic thing.

on doing a dakota swap--same years--you have to know if the computer wiring plug to the tranny is white or black--the one i had had a black square plug...
